This cleaner was bought to replace an old original DC01 that had given many years sterling service. I have no quibble at all with the new cleaner. It does eveything I expect - strong vacuum, easy tool connection, good stair and crevice cleaning, works on all of my floor types. A good update from the original and a no-quibble five year guarantee included in the price!

Recommend the Dyson hoovers, this is the second one I have had not due to failure, my last one 4 yrs old have given to my daughter as they have had so many that have broken over the same time frame I have had mine. Have purchased another one same model as so happy with my other one.

Fatally Flawed?

This is a reasonable vacuum cleaner with one fatal flaw (no pun intended!).

Good Points:
Excellent suction, good dust capacity, easy emptying.

Fatal Flaw: For anyone over 5 feet 10 inches tall who wants to use the Dyson Hard Floor Tool, the wand on the DC14 is too short to use it without stooping considerably. It's caused me considerable back pain and the DC14 is soon going to be replaced to save my back any more damage. I previously had a Dyson DC3 and I could use the wand and hard floor tool with no problems at all.

I contacted Dyson Support who (disappointingly for a 'prestige' brand) couldn't offer any solution.

Anyone who isn't going to use the hard floor tool or is below 5'10" will have no problems but if you're tall and want to use the hard floor tool I would advise you look at alternatives for the sake of your back.

My experiences with this cleaner and Dyson's Customer Support have led me to end my brand loyalty to Dyson, and the DC14's replacement will be a non-Dyson.

Having become utterly frustrated with an Electrolux cleaner I had been given, I threw this out and bought the Dyson. Should have done it much sooner! This is a brilliant vacuum cleaner for both carpets and hard floors, with one-touch switching between surfaces. No expensive bags to replace. Picks up dog hair from my two dogs with ease. Although it isn't lightweight, it really isn't that heavy either and is easily manageable. Absolutely brilliant buy.

Delivered when it said, very pleased with the DC14, I have had a Dyson for the last 9 years and it hs nver lt me down, my son's Dyson broke so I gave him mine and bought the DC14, I am hoping it is as good as my last one.
