Dreadful Customer Service

Bought this cleaner 2 weeks ago, assembled it and started to use it. Brush bars stopped rotating. Phoned VAX who arranged to have it collected for repairs with a promise of it being returned within 7 days.
After 7 days and no return of cleaner, I phoned to ask where it was - I was told that it was in the system and I would have to wait, when I asked how long, I was told "I'm not sure - it will be dealt with in due course and returned when it has been repaired" After much pushing and demanding to speak to a manager, who I was told was not available, the lad went away and told me he had spoken to the manager and a machine would be dispatched tomorrow and would be with me on the Friday. When I phoned the following day, I was told they hadn't informed me of the progress because they were still waiting for an answer from their warehouse (they could have followed it up)but because it had not been sent out, they would send me a new machine, but I would have to wait until the middle of next week for it to arrive. This would be over 2 weeks after it had been collected and 2 and a half weeks after it had packed up. Normal delivery was up to 4 days. The manager was not prepared to organise next day delivery, he was not at all concerned that we had been without a cleaner for over 2 weeks. His title was "Customer Service Manager". My interpretation is that his title is "Lack of Customer Service & Can't Manage".
The Customer Service from VAX is awful. It might be a good machine when it works - but we haven't had chance to find out yet.Vax VZL-801 Bagless Upright Vacuum Cleaner

Why you shouldn't choose a Dyson

The Vax is cheaper, has better suction, is more robust, is easier to clean, is easier to empty, is more manouverable, is easier to carry, cleans better, works better at the edges, has a better tool set and is quieter than any Dyson (I've had four) I've owned.

The Dyson has a longer lead.

So, that's Vax - 11, Dyson - 1. No contest.

I bought this vacuum after reading other purchaser's reviews. I am very pleased with this model, as it does exactly what it says on the package. It was easy to assemble and simple to use. Its suction is as good as any vacuum I've had in the past and easy to empty. I recommend this product to anyone who wants a reliable cleaner.
